Meet your guides!

Shalyn Wilkins
Since joining her first Brake the Cycle trip, Shalyn has been hooked on adventuring by bike. Having now converted countless friends and family (and sometimes even strangers) to the joys of biking, Shalyn joins us to lead rides and share her infectious enthusiasm for exploring by bike, opportunistic yoga, sharing good food and camping under the stars. It's also quite possible that Shalyn holds the record for the most puncture-repairs in a calendar year - so we're glad to be in experienced hands.
FAQs
Do I need to carry my stuff? What happens to all my festival kit?
We can transfer it all it in our support vehicle :)
Where do we meet and start?
Bristol - Queen's Square
Cardiff - TBC
How far do we go?
From Bristol: Approx total of 200-kms or 124-miles over 2-days
From Cardiff: Approx total of 120-kms or 74-miles over 2-days (most of which will covered on Day 2, approx 100-kms or 62-miles)
Where do we stay?
We’ll be staying at a campsite (TBC).
What should I wear?
We'd recommend ensuring you at least have something warm for the evening and a waterproof for the ride. Please bring sunscreen! (And Aloe Vera if possible). Even if the sun is not out, the wind and clouds have a big impact and you don't want your festival experience to be uncomfortable.
Where do I leave my bike?
You'll need to bring your own bike lock which can be secured in a designated area on-site at Love Trails, manned by security.
What happens at the festival?
We'll be taking you on optional loop rides near the main site, a full agenda will be released in good time and you can pick and choose if you want to join in.
How do I get back?
For an additional £35 we can bus you and your bike (separately via our van) back to either Cardiff or Bristol after the festival on Sunday evening. Just let us know at checkout!
Do I need to navigate?
We’ll provide route .GPX files and instructions to navigate through preferred apps (eg. Strava, Komoot, Ride with GPS), however, if you prefer to stay away from digital navigation you can, we've got it covered!
Do I need to bring my own food?
We will provide healthy, nutritious and delicious meals - all plant powered. We know how important it is to keep fuelled with nourishing food.
You'll need a little extra cash for your own snacks and munchies, at stops in cafes (or pubs) throughout the ride.
How fit do I need to be?
We're assuming you'll be pretty fit already given the nature of the festival! We'd advise you get your body used to being on a bike beforehand, that's for sure. Build this up with a few regular, easy rides before departure, this will help you slip into a rhythm and get into the swing of things easier, and allow you a smoother transition to running at the festival!
What cycling grade is this ride?
We’ve graded this ride 3 out of 5, moderate difficulty.
Can I hire a bike from you?
Unfortunately you need to bring your own bike. However, we can certainly point you in the right direction!
Can I hire a tent from you?
No, unfortunately not, however we can carry yours in the support vehicle provided.
What will the terrain be like?
The route is well-ridden and we’ll be riding predominately on roads and the surfaces are generally good, avoiding busy, main roads as much as possible.
Do I need travel insurance?
All participants are well covered under our company insurance policy, however, we also recommend personal, accident cover.
'An incredible experience, a real adventure that provided too many highlights to recount. There was a sociable and non-competitive vibe, and I felt totally supported by the team, the trip couldn't have gone smoother from arrival to departure.'
