Event Summary

Please note the following details are subject to change, but the current plan is:

Dates: 24th - 31st October 2021 Number of people: 100+ riders
Distance: Approx 60 miles/day on average for 7 days, final day only 10 miles - so this ride isn't for the faint hearted.
Accommodation: Not included, allowing flexibility for you to book your preferred accommodation options. We'll provide a list of recommendations.

The Ride to COP26 guarantees:

  • We provide the GPX routes and on-road vehicle support and some guides, but the route is self-guided - the route is also designed to be off the main roads as much as possible
  • Support vehicles to carry all your gear (cycle bag free!)
  • Delicious tasty lunches in scenic spots along the route (dry!)
  • Smiles on arrival
  • Great new friends you haven’t yet met.

Goals of the ride

Aside from simply having a fun adventure while exploring the UK by bike, we have three direct goals for the ride:

1. To raise climate action

through riders asking for support through climate action pledges instead of cash. All riders have their own Do Nation page where they can see their impact and how that contributes to the collective impact of the ride. Take action to support a rider today.

2. To build awareness

of positive climate solutions. We'll organise talks and film screenings each evening of the ride, so that you arrive in Glasgow with a strong knowledge of climate action, not just strong legs. This part will be coordinated in partnership with Possible.

3. To create a community

of climate champions, with people joining from across industries and communities all with a shared passion for climate action. There's nothing like the challenge of a multi-day ride for building connections!

Underlying all of these is our desire to influence policy makers across the UK - through sharing stories, lessons, and impact data from the ride in partnership with Count Us In we hope to add to the momentum driving forward ambitious and meaningful action at COP26.

It's also quite possible that Shalyn holds the record for the most puncture-repairs in a calendar year - so we're glad to be in experienced hands.
