Ride the Change - COP27 Cycle
Ride the Change is back! We're cycling to London to raise action and awareness around positive climate solutions, and build a community of champions along the way.
Event Summary
Please note the following details are subject to change, but the current plan is:
Dates: 2-5 November 2022
Expected riders: 200+-
Distance: Approx 50-60 miles/day on average for 4 days (Total distance: 225 miles +-)
Start: Swansea, Wales
Finish: Westminster, London
Route overnight stops: Swansea > Newport > Bath > Newbury > London
Accommodation: Not included, allowing flexibility for you to book your preferred accommodation options.
Goals of the ride:
1. To empower a community of climate champions
By equipping riders with the tools needed to drive substantial changes within their communities and workplaces, through three key elements of the ride:
a. Experiencing first-hand the impact that you can inspire through asking people for support through simple climate action pledges – things like cycling to work, wasting less food, or switching banks.
b. Educating and informing riders about climate projects and solutions across the country, through a series of talks, films, and shared meals each evening of the ride, as well as pit stops on route.
c. Connect all riders to a community of people who share a passion for climate action, building strong relationships through the shared experience of the ride.
2. To influence policy makers in the UK and at COP27
By sharing powerful impact stories, data, and lessons from the ride through targeted PR and social media. Some such policy makers may even join legs of the cycle itself, experiencing the impact and energy firsthand.
*All riders will have their own Do Nation page where they can see their impact and how that contributes to the collective impact of the ride. We'll also organise various evening events, entertainment, talks and project site visits along the way, so you'll arrive in London with an even stronger knowledge of climate action, not just strong legs. This part will be coordinated and organised by Adventure Uncovered, in partnership with event charity partner Possible.

Shalyn Wilkins
Since joining her first Brake the Cycle trip, Shalyn has been hooked on adventuring by bike. Having now converted countless friends and family (and sometimes even strangers) to the joys of biking, Shalyn joins us to lead rides and share her infectious enthusiasm for exploring by bike, opportunistic yoga, sharing good food and camping under the stars. It's also quite possible that Shalyn holds the record for the most puncture-repairs in a calendar year - so we're glad to be in experienced hands.
